Yotpo Is Sunsetting Email and SMS. What That Means for You.

Redo Team

Earlier this week, Yotpo made a pretty big announcement. They’re officially shutting down their native Email and SMS products by the end of the year. The news came alongside a round of layoffs and a public statement from their CEO about doubling down on their core offerings: Reviews, Loyalty, and User-Generated Content.

They’re shifting their strategy to focus more on profitability and AI. According to Yotpo, 70 percent of their basic support is already handled by AI, and 90 percent of their marketing campaigns last year were built with it too. This move is part of a bigger play to become what they’re calling a product-first company.

If you’re currently using Yotpo’s Email or SMS tools, this is something you need to pay attention to. A forced migration is coming, and it’s coming fast. If you're planning a migration, we've put together a special offer at the bottom of this as well to help ease the financial and technical burden of this transition.

What Yotpo Users Are Being Told

Yotpo has mentioned two options for brands who need to transition. The first is Attentive, a strong player in the SMS space. The second is Omnisend, which also supports Email and integrates directly with Yotpo’s Reviews and Loyalty tools.

There’s been some chatter about a customer base sale, but let’s clear that up. There’s no public evidence that Yotpo sold its Email or SMS customers to anyone. It looks more like they’re simply recommending Attentive and Omnisend as go-to solutions.

For many brands, switching to either of those could be a logical next step. But this kind of change also opens the door to reevaluate your tech stack.

Why This Matters

This shift from Yotpo highlights something we’ve all seen happening across ecommerce over the past few years. As tech stacks have grown more complex, many brands have ended up with a dozen disconnected tools trying to solve different pieces of the post-purchase experience.

Point solutions can work well when you're optimizing for one specific thing. But they can also create silos, duplicate costs, and more moving parts to manage. On the flip side, more platforms are consolidating their offerings to give brands a single place to run multiple parts of the customer journey.

Neither path is automatically better. It just depends on your team, your goals, and how much complexity you're willing to take on.

This moment is a good reminder to step back and ask: is your current setup still serving you? Or has it outgrown itself?

What Redo Can Do

If you're not familiar with Redo, here’s the short version. We’ve built Email and SMS into the same platform that powers returns, warranties, tracking, and more. You don’t need a bunch of bolt-on tools or fragile integrations. It’s all in one place.

That means you can:

  • Send post-purchase emails or SMS updates without jumping between systems
  • Use return and order data to trigger smarter messages
  • Keep your CX team in the loop with real-time visibility
  • Simplify your stack and reduce costs without giving up performance

If you’re looking at this Yotpo announcement and feeling like it’s time for something simpler, that’s exactly what we’ve built.
